Celebrated for their "multifaceted artistry" and "brilliantly idiomatic" programming (The New York Times), the members of the contemporary string ensemble Poiesis Quartet originally met and formed while studying at Oberlin College. They are the winners of the 2026 Cleveland Quartet Award and the First Prize and Commission Prize recipients of the 2025 Banff International String Quartet Competition. The Quartet actively seeks to expand the modern instrumental canon by presenting works by emerging LGBTQIA+ composers of color. Poiesis' 2024 debut LP, as we are, featuring internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Nancy Maultsby, was lauded by Cleveland Classical for its "bottomless depth." Performing at the David Rubenstein Atrium as part of curator Nadia Sirota's Living Music series, the Quartet makes their headlining debut at Lincoln Center with a program scheduled to include compositions by Max Lang, Maya Irizarry Lambright, Kevin Lau, and Michi Wiancko.
