Ingenious experimentalists Camilo Lara and Eblis Álvarez have spent years exploring the far reaches of Latine music with their respective groups, Mexican Institute of Sound and Meridian Brothers. Merging their creative alchemies, the duo created Ruido Tovar, a new album that unpacks the musical lineage binding the creators' homelands: Colombia and Mexico. Ruido Tovar adds electronic elements to a wide variety of influences—from experimental tropical sounds, to '60s psychedelic cumbia from Mexico, danzón, and son—to connect the sonic past and present. Gather on the Plaza for a meeting of the minds, where Álvarez and Lara's deliriously catchy world compels you to move to a new tropical language.
