Experience the arts and culture of China during Summer for the City's Chinese Arts Week! This day of music and dance at the Atrium features the Red Silk Dancers—a long-running NYC-based Chinese dance company—who performs to selections from yiuyiu 瑤瑤, founder of local collective and archive Chinatown Records 華埠錄音. Before their performance, join the Red Silk Dancers’ founder Margaret Yuen for an all-ages lesson on traditional and contemporary Chinese movement with a twist (and with silks, of course). From folk and classical dance, to modern takes on tradition, this afternoon of family programming is all about culture, creation, and connectivity.
