From his beginnings as a prodigious fiddle, guitar and banjo player, Vermont-born singer-songwriter Sam Amidon has proven a knack for satisfyingly odd, virtuosic musical performance. Over the course of his 30-year recording career, Amidon has made versatility, curiosity, and virtuosity his hallmarks, attracting prominent collaborators in the fields of jazz (Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell), Irish traditional (Mairèad Ní Mhagonaigh, Tommy Sands), gospel (The Blind Boys of Alabama), rock (Tune Yards, The National), and contemporary classical (the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Nico Muhly). He is likely best known for his original solo work, which expertly meshes folk idioms, modern harmony and inventive orchestration. Performing at the David Rubenstein Atrium as part of curator Nadia Sirota's Living Music Series, Amidon makes his headlining debut at Lincoln Center.
