Dance Instructor: Jenny Sowden
DJ: Sabrina Ramos

One listen to the sound of Solomon Hicks, the 29-year-old guitar phenom from New York City who calls himself "a blues musician with a jazz mind," evokes comparisons to timeless musical heroes as B.B. King, Buddy Guy, and Gary Clark Jr. Even among such esteemed company, Hicks stands on his own merits with the clean and precise playing style and boyishly soulful singing voice that earned him The Blues Foundation in Memphis’ Best Emerging Artist Award for 2021. At his Lincoln Center headlining debut, Hicks' repertoire alongside his live band will include fresh orchestrations of Delta, boogie woogie, and country blues standards spiced up with a selection of original instant classics from his brand-new album, Harlem. It's feel-good music that makes you want to move, so bring your dancing shoes! Prior to the concert, you'll learn some simple steps from a local instructor that'll give you the skills you need to turn the Summer for the City Dance Floor into an old-school juke joint.
