Maxida Märak, an Indigenous Swedish-Sámi artist, blends Hip-Hop, jojk (traditional Sámi singing), and electronic music into a unique and powerful sound. Her music explores the intersection of modern beats and ancient traditions, celebrating her Sámi heritage while addressing the struggles of Indigenous peoples worldwide. Märak brings her latest project to Summer for the City, reimagining Swedish and Sámi folk music and offering a fresh perspective on traditional songs with a contemporary twist. Her performances reflect her commitment to preserving her culture and highlighting the importance of Indigenous human rights, while bringing people together through the universal language of music.
