Bring your loved ones for a free film screening of a Hip-Hop holiday season classic, Beat Street (1984) at the David Rubenstein Atrium. The American cinematic treasure Beat Street brings the 1980s underground New York City Hip-Hop scene to vivid life through dance, music, and culture. Set in the South Bronx, the film follows the dreams of a pair of brothers and their group of talented friends who all aspire to catch their big break in DJing, breakdancing, and graffiti. Xavier “X” Jernigan, Lincoln Center’s Hip-Hop guest curator and the Head of Spotify's Cultural Partnerships division, gives an intro to the film and plays a curated playlist of Hip-Hop and R&B holiday hits before and after the screening to put us all in the holiday spirit.
