SLP & The Joyful Noise is an eight-piece band, led by the Pulitzer Prize-winning dramatist Suzan-Lori Parks, that serves as her musical workshop for original songwriting and new storytelling. The Tune Up! series, directed by Bessie Award-winning Executive Artistic Director of The Flea Theater Niegel Smith, puts SLP & The Joyful Noise at center stage for a feature-length variety show that blends short plays, original music, and high-voltage performance centering around themes that unite us in our shared humanity. This is a sip-your-drinks, make-new-friends, dance-in-the-aisles kind of evening that traffics in big sounds and bold ideas, booty-shaking, and statement-making.
