To celebrate the release of his much-anticipated album, Inheritances, pianist Adam Tendler performs works from his headline-grabbing program and offers insights into its genesis. The “relentlessly adventurous pianist” (The Washington Post) will be joined by composers and collaborators of the project—some of today’s most sought-after composers in the industry. When Adam Tendler’s father unexpectedly died, he was left with an inheritance, an envelope full of cash received in a parking lot. He used its entirety to commission a broad spectrum of composers (and friends) to devise piano works exploring the theme of “inheritance”. Woven into one gripping collection of “little masterpieces” (The New York Times), each reflecting a “melancholy beauty beyond conventions” (Pioneer Press), this “wildly unexpected” (Star Tribune) program tells a universal story of lineage, loss, and place. For countless listeners, Inheritances has become a powerful meditation on confronting our past, and a catalyst for moving forward.
