Lincoln Center Education
Lincoln Center Education (LCE) encourages and celebrates life-long learning through the arts.
Education is integral to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts’ mission and purpose, engaging educators, teaching artists, emerging artists, families, and audiences of all ages. Our foundational approach in Aesthetic Education focuses on specific works of art, inquiry, reflection, and research.
Our Approach to Aesthetic Education
Grounded in the philosophy of Dr. Maxine Greene, we believe works of art are inexhaustible resources for learning. Active engagement with works of art fosters curiosity, inspires agency, and sparks the imagination.
LCE’s Learning Framework
Imagination can be defined as the capacity to observe what is and to conceive what could be. It enables us to ask “what if...?” and to consider a range of possibilities and outcomes. Developed by LCE, The Capacities for Imaginative Thinking is a learning framework which unlocks a wide range of educational outcomes. Our Aesthetic Education approach activates the capacities in our learners.
Education Programs
Our programs meet learners at many stages of life regardless of skill level—from educators and teaching artists, to emerging artists and students, and audiences of all ages.
