David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center
The David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center is where arts and democracy converge—committed to the values of radical welcoming, artistic innovation, open exchange of ideas, audience and artist intimacy, and community partnership. Encompassing free performances, talks, family shows, opportunities for civic engagement, social events, and more, the Atrium’s programming opens our world to culture that addresses today’s most pressing issues, broadens our moral consciousness, and explores our common humanity. Weekly programming is as vibrant and diverse as the city we serve and like the people of New York City, artists at the Atrium come from around the world.
We believe in art’s ability to be a shining beacon of democratic values and an engine for social change, connection, and community building. We invite you to join us in this space.

Accessibility and Inclusion at the Atrium
The Atrium is a space dedicated to the convergence of arts and democracy—through radical welcoming, the open exchange of ideas, and artistic innovation. Our approach to accessibility mirrors our commitment to transform our performing arts spaces to be more inclusive of our audiences’ identities and access needs by design, not as an afterthought or add-on.
The Atrium offers a wide variety of programs, where guests are invited to observe concerts and talks or participate in social dances and workshops. Limited seating is available on a first come, first served-basis and varies depending on the nature of the event. Standing room will be available as space allows.
As part of Lincoln Center’s wider commitment to accessibility and inclusion, we recognize that access needs must be integrated in the creative process, that the work on our stages reflects our differences and interconnectedness, and that we are creating a space where everyone feels welcome. We know we have work to do.
We seek to create a more inclusive experience for our audiences by providing a range of accommodations for all performances, no request necessary. Accommodations for Lincoln Center-presented performances in the Atrium will include, as applicable:
• Accessible seating, with companion seats and designated aisle seats• Accessible entrance with automatic doors
• Accessible, gender-neutral restrooms and changing tables
• Large print and braille versions of all printed programs
• FM Assistive Listening Devices with headsets and neck loops for all amplified performances
• Noise-reducing headphones, earplugs and fidgets to borrow
• Chill Out Space, offering reduced noise, crowds and visual stimulation, where guests can take a break and reenter when they’re ready
• Signage at entrance and online to note strobe effects, if applicable
• Detailed information about arrival recommendations and show duration [generally 90 minutes for evening performances or 60 minutes for family performances unless noted] online in advance of each performance
• Guests able to enter and leave seating area as needed throughout performance, as capacity allows
• Staff trained in inclusive practices
Additional accommodations for talks at the Atrium, as applicable:
• Live captioning, displaying text of all spoken words and sounds to provide access to Deaf, hard-of-hearing and neurodiverse communities, in English on personal handheld devices
• American Sign Language interpretation
Additional accommodations for film screenings at the Atrium, as applicable:
• Captioning in English
• Audio description, sharing the visual elements for people who are blind or have low vision, over single earpiece receiver
We recognize that the list above is not exhaustive and that accommodations are never a “one size fits all” solution. Please contact the Access Team by email at [email protected] or by phone at 212-875-5375 to discuss your specific access needs or accommodations so that we may explore other accommodations we may be able to offer, including alternate entry process for guests unable to stand in line due to a disability. While there is no deadline for notice, please reach out as soon as you know that you plan to attend a program so that we may have enough time to identify the best options to fill your request.
This page will be continuously updated as accommodations expand to meet the needs of our audiences. We thank you for your collaboration in this process.
