Mannes Orchestra returns to Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in a concert featuring the recently rediscovered and acclaimed Symphony No. II - The Faithful Friend: The Lover Friend’s Love for the Beloved, by Julius Eastman.

The New York Times calls it a "...symphony that radiates cosmic grandeur," and said "...the quality of this student orchestra is as much a revelation as the dark brilliance of Eastman’s rediscovered work," when describing the world premiere by the Mannes Orchestra in 2018 (Corinna da Fonseca-Wollheim, The New York Times). Mannes Orchestra is thrilled to once again perform this mesmerizing symphony.

Joining Eastman are two dynamic works created for the ballet - George Rochberg’s Black Sounds, scored for wind, brass and percussion (no strings!) and Bela Bartók's, Suite from The Miraculous Mandarin, a tumultuous and tragic love story with an element of redemption at its close.

Join us for an evening of intensity and drama that explores the passion, complexities, connections, and dualities of love and relationships.
