American Songbook: Echoes of an Inheritance

March 18–May 23, 2026

For more than 25 years, Lincoln Center's American Songbook has provided artists with the opportunity to reimagine the foundational music and theater that originally brought them to the stage. The 2026 season of Songbook, curated by Lincoln Center Artist-in-Residence Clint Ramos, opens up the cupboard of American musical history and finds it beautifully, excitingly full. Through vivid productions of intimate performances, powerhouse concerts, and electrifying, genre-crossing events, we celebrate the unique art forms that our country has produced: the jazz ballad, the Broadway showtune, gospel spirituals, house music, and pop hits. Ramos's expansive curation reveals an American identity built from many voices and many histories. Come and explore a new dimension of American music!
