Co-presented by Lincoln Center and Louisville Orchestra

On the anniversary of Breonna Taylor’s death, singer and creator Davóne Tines’s presents a virtual screening of VIGIL, a work of art and a call to action dedicated to her memory, followed by a live conversation.

Moderators Davóne Tines and Teddy Abrams (Music Director, Louisville Orchestra) will be joined by Jecorey Arthur (activist, musician, and Louisville Metro Councilperson), Rep. Attica Scott (Member of the Kentucky House of Representatives), and Jessie Montgomery (composer, violinist, educator; recipient of Sphinx Medal of Excellence and ASCAP Foundation Leonard Bernstein Award). Tines’s creative process for VIGIL will serve as a catalyst for a discussion of the arts and social justice, and the role of artistic commemorations today.

This conversation will be livestreamed for free on Saturday, March 13 at 4:00 pm ET on Lincoln Center’s Facebook page and YouTube channel, which can be accessed from this webpage.

The original work was created by Tines in collaboration with Igée Dieudonné, Matthew Aucoin, and Conor Hanick. The world premiere of the orchestral arrangement of VIGIL was commissioned by and performed with the Louisville Orchestra on October 3, 2020.
