New York City Ballet
In Creases
Choreographed by Justin Peck
In Creases is the first work Justin Peck, a former soloist with New York City Ballet, created for the Company. The ballet is set to Philip Glass’ "Four Movements for Two Pianos," and received its world premiere in July 2012 during NYCB’s annual summer residency at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in upstate New York. Peck has since created 18 works for NYCB, and was named the Company’s Resident Choreographer in 2014 and Artistic Advisor in 2019.

Dance Theatre of Harlem
New Bach
Choreographed by Robert Garland
Created by Dance Theatre of Harlem Resident Choreographer Robert Garland for the Company, New Bach was first performed in September 2001, immediately after 9/11. The style of neoclassical ballet created by George Balanchine and cultivated at Dance Theatre of Harlem by Co-founder Arthur Mitchell is at the center and essence of New Bach. It is a supreme expression of Garland’s tongue in cheek description, “post-modern-urban neoclassicism,” infusing popular vernacular dance and Africanist influences within a framework of George Balanchine’s neoclassical ballet influences.

American Ballet Theatre
Songs of Bukovina (excerpts);
Choreographed by Alexei Ratmansky
Created by ABT Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky, Songs of Bukovina takes a stroll through a festive village gathering, full of jubilant color and cheer. Set to the music of Leonid Desyatnikov, the ballet rhythmically explores the folk traditions of the Carpathian Mountains. Songs of Bukovina was given its World Premiere on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, danced by Christine Shevchenko and Calvin Royal III.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater
Revelations (excerpts);
Choreographed by Alvin Ailey
These excerpts of Alvin Ailey’s enduring classic Revelations call on the choreographer’s ‘blood memories’ of his early childhood in rural Texas and the Baptist Church. However, his masterpiece transcends any particular faith or geography, appealing to universal emotions, which have helped to make it the most widely seen work of modern dance in the world.
