Discover transformative New York and world premieres
Contemporary and classical traditions reflect New York's cultural diversity in never-before-experienced premieres at Lincoln Center. This October, the third annual Festival of Firsts showcases artists exploring new horizons and celebrating major career milestones—all for free at the Atrium! Dancers transform calligraphy into performance alongside holographic projection in the U.S. premiere of Ink; and David Lang's poor hymnal, a concert-length work written for the GRAMMY-winning chamber choir The Crossing, has its New York premiere in December.

The David Rubenstein Atrium has offered 15 years of dynamic, free programming—opening our world to culture that addresses today’s most pressing issues and explores our common humanity. To celebrate the occasion, we're bringing back fan-favorites, from across genres, to light up the stage this fall! Featured artists include: longtime collaborator Voices of a People’s History, Orquesta Broadway, Treya Lam and Kaki King, Jaime Lozano, Mahogany L. Browne's Seen, Sound, Scribe, Migguel Anggelo, Rhina Valentin, and so many more.
Revel in Latinx and global artists on the New York stage
This year, beginning October 2024, we're honoring the incomparable Rubén Blades, one of the most successful vocalists and songwriters in music and salsa history, with performances across the campus. The New Latin Wave returns with FUTUROS, presenting composers in new music, experimental, and neo-classical fields for four nights only at the Atrium. On October 24, the modern face of Portuguese fado and global phenomenon, superstar vocalist Mariza, makes her Lincoln Center debut with a headlining concert.Be the first to know!

New York Public Library for the Performing Arts
From 1954–1970, the studio of Friedman-Abeles photographed the majority of the plays and musicals on Broadway. Although their black and white images are familiar to fans and historians, the studio also photographed many shows in color, and the Library for the Performing Arts received them as color slides. The cost of reproducing these images in the pre-digital era meant that, aside from a few selections in record album liner notes or on magazine covers, these photographs have never been seen before. This exhibition showcases selections of some of the studio’s most iconic images from Broadway hits like the original productions of Camelot, West Side Story, and Bye Bye Birdie.
