In this delightful concert Jeffrey Kahane conducts, and solos in, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 22, described by musicologist Cuthbert Girdlestone as his “queenliest … the music unfolds like a sovereign in progress.” Respighi’s richly textured Botticelli Triptych expresses in music the eminent Renaissance painter’s colorful canvases — “Spring,” “The Adoration of the Magi,” and “The Birth of Venus.”
