Janine Jansen is the brilliant soloist in Brahms’s Violin Concerto, a work of nearly symphonic proportions and technical fireworks in the last movement. Maestro van Zweden conducts ravishing melodies and seductive waltzes in Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier, which transports you to Vienna’s Golden Age. This concert, featuring Tania León’s commissioned work, continues Project 19.
Project 19 is a multiyear New York Philharmonic initiative that features commissions by 19 women composers in honor of the centennial of the 19th Amendment.
