Join Ethiopia-born, San Francisco–based singer-songwriter Meklit for a danceable celebration of Ethiopian grooves and pentatonic melodies, with bumping horn lines and poetic impact. Drawing on the haunting, nostalgic Tizita music of her heritage as well as the jazz, folk music, hip-hop, and art rock of her current home, this “stunning” artist (San Francisco Chronicle) creates music from the “in-between spaces.” A cultural activist, TED Senior Fellow, and cofounder of The Nile Project, Meklit’s TED talk, The Unexpected Beauty of Everyday Sounds, has been watched by more than 1 million people.
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
