Pulitzer Prize winner Margulies’ play about a successful artist named Jonathan Waxman whose works are bought “sight unseen,” won an Obie Award in 1991. With mordant humor in scenes that dart from past to present and back, the four characters deal with anti-Semitism, the legacy of the Holocaust and assimilation, the sadness of lost love, and the unanswerable question of the role of the artist at the end of a ragged century.
