Concert Starts At 8:00PM
Beethoven: Symphony No. 9"
The American Classical Orchestra presents Beethoven's towering final symphony realized with the thrilling textures and nuanced blend of period instruments and fine vocalists.
Beethoven's Symphony 9 is one of the most well-known symphonies of the 20th Century, it has been performed by almost every major Symphony Orchestra in the world, but the ACO's performance will be perhaps the most genuine performance of this masterwork since it was premiered. While often known for it's grand finale and large chorus, the ACO's performance will focus more on the preservation of the original sound, and presenting it as though the audiences of the 19th Century heard it. While often performed with large choral societies, the sound of the acclaimed professional American Classical Orchestra Chorus will lift the great finale to new heights for the audience and musicians alike.
Because the work is only one hour in length, and is of such sweeping emotional impact, performances that include other works on the program are often lacking. This ACO performance will begin with Maestro Crawford’s engaging introduction with the orchestra and chorus onstage. The audience will hear live excerpts and insights before listening to the symphony. The combination of pre-symphony talk and period instrument performance offers a rare and meaningful immersion into this great work.
